|Game Title:||.hack//G.U. Last Recode|
|Release Date:||November 3, 2017|
|Languages:||English, French, German, Japanese|
PC port of the PS4 remaster of the original .hack//G.U. trilogy on the PS2 in addition to an added Vol. 4 “epilogue” chapter that settles the leftover dead ends that the the 3rd game left behind. Also a digital copy of the Terminal Disc from the limited edition copy of .hack//G.U. Vol. 1 Rebirth.
The Terminal Disc includes recaps of the first tetralogy if you need to get up to speed on the lore.
The game is graphically enhanced with higher res models and better colors. It’s actually really noticeable if you check comparisons between PS2 and PS4/PC.
On the system level, the game’s battle speed has been increased to make it more like modern action RPGs. Also Haseo and some bosses got rebalanced and it kinda makes the game easier but in the original game, if you did all the sidequests you were already overleveled as heck. Max item stack also got increased from 50 -> 99.
There is also a Cheat Mode added if you want to basically enjoy the story with zero effort on your part.
After the debacle that was .hack//Vol. 1-4 and a great fire at CC Corp’s headquarters that wiped out server data on The World, the original game was lost completely. The World R:2 was released later and that’s where this game takes place.
Our main character Haseo enters and naively gets baited by two PKers and gets saved by a stranger named Ovan. And a timeskip happens and you end up eight months later where Haseo is a known PKK, or Player Killer Killer, a movement of unorganized vigilantes that seek to kill malicious players that plague the World:R2. He seeks a PKer named Tri-Edge that has something to do with the disappearance of his friend Shino after her character was killed and her user ended up in a coma. After finding traces of him, he is ambushed by an entity that bears a strong resemblance to Kite from R:1 and his level gets reset back to LV 1 after getting hit with Data Drain.
And so his questions only grew that day as he works his way back up from the bottom in order to seek the answers he wants.
Volume 4 is more about tying up loose ends and saying goodbye to old friends after everything that happened in G.U. Vol. 1-3 and it’s set in the dying period of World R:2 so expect alot of functions such as email, forums, Area Words, and many other things to just not work at all since all the players got scared away and the company is starting to shut down the game servers. It is a few hours at most really so if you’re getting this for only Vol 4, it’ll be over quick but it does bring closure to this trilogy.
Might as well play the first three games again.
